2006-07 Facts

  • Catholic Charities is a major provider of services to children and families in central Oklahoma.  Last year 1,890 clients were served in our Family Hope and Disaster Assistance programs.
  • 512 people received marriage and family counseling at the St. Joseph’s Counseling Center.  Counseling for our parochial schools was provided by Catholic Charities.
  • Catholic Charities is seen as a leader in the community working to develop day services for the approximately 4,000 homeless people in central Oklahoma.  The agency is working with other faith communities to respond to the need for case management and daily living needs of the homeless.
  • Over the years, the Catholic Charities Parish Nurse Program – recently renamed Faith Community Nursing – has expanded to more than 50 faith communities of 20 denominations.  In 2007, in cooperation with other health care organizations, Catholic Charities will establish the Faith Community Nursing Resource Center, a resource and training center for faith community nurses statewide.
  • Regional offices in Enid, Clinton and Lawton serve our parishes and communities outside the OKC metropolitan area.  This year, Catholic Charities, in partnership with other organizations, began the rehabilitation of Columbia Square affordable housing complex in Lawton which will house 64 low-income families when completed.
  • Catholic Charities does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, or ability to pay.
  • Most people served by the agency are non-Catholic.
  • 1,600 individuals received Christmas gifts in Oklahoma City in 2006.
  • 556 wildfire victims and Hurricane Katrina evacuees were helped with disaster relief.
  • Social Action advocates for workers’ rights, welfare reform, pro-life issues.
  • Five infants were placed this past year in permanent adoptive homes and 20 teenage mothers were served at the Holy Family Maternity Home.
  • 116 senior residents were served at Villa Isenbart and Trinity Gardens.
  • Volunteers donated 3,100 hours of service last year to Catholic Charities.
