JOB TITLE: Adoption Services and Student Intern Coordinator

FLSA DUTIES STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Senior Director for Clinical Services

JOB OBJECTIVE: This position is responsible for the implementation of all adoption services, including those services to birth parents and adoptive parents. As a part of the St. Joseph’s Counseling Center team, this position is responsible for assisting with parish and community counseling and support services as assigned, in the context of Roman Catholic tradition and teachings. Additional duties include responsibility for the recruitment and oversight of student intern placements within the agency.

The essential job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Administrative/Management
  • Enlist and coordinate services to clients who are considering placing their child for adoption.
  • Provide the orientation, application and case management for all adoptive parent applicants.
  • Ensure all licensing requirements for services to birth and adoptive parents are completed.
  • Maintain all adoptive records in accordance with licensing and in preparation for bi-annual audit by the Department of Human Services Child Placing Agency licensure.
  • Facilitate training and support of Project Gabriel parish ministries.
  • Coordinate all applications for student interns including the review of MOU, interviews, orientation, evaluations and support of Program directors.
  • Assist the Director of Counseling Services to coordinate parish outreach for QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) MHFA (Mental Health First Aid) and other counseling topics as needed/requested.
  • Clinical Services
  • Provide assessment for services and resources needed for birth mothers and their families.
  • Provide assessment/homestudy services and resources for adoptive couples who apply for adoption services.
  • Assess the appropriateness and placement of student who apply for internships with the agency.
  • Provide consultation, crisis intervention and support to staff as needed in support of the Counseling program.
  • Provide consultation and intervention response to parish and community partners.

General Responsibilities:

· Participate in program evaluation and development tasks as assigned by Supervisor.

· Perform other duties as required by the Senior Director for Clinical & Legal Services.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position supervises student interns as well as volunteers that have academic requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

· Educational Requirements/Credentials - Requirements for the position are a master’s degree in clinical social work or counseling from an accredited college or university.

· Skills – Training in individual, family and/or group counseling methods. It is preferred that applicants for this position have at least two years of experience in providing psycho-educational presentations.

· Must possess State of Oklahoma certification to conduct home-study assessments for adoption.

· Applicants must be licensed in the appropriate specialty in the State of Oklahoma a minimum of 2 years.

· Knowledge of Catholic tradition and teaching is required.

  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with public, parishes, and clients

· Ability to maintain flexibility in work schedule

· Case management experience and associated skills

  • Excellent organizational skills required to ensure that multiple tasks receive adequate and timely attention.
  • Able to function autonomously and be proactive.
  • PC literate and proficient.
  • Good proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is sedentary work that requires the following physical activities:

  • Sitting for long periods of time, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 10 pounds of computer equipment or paper supplies).
  • May be required to travel by car or plane to business events or other company locations. Travel may require prolonged sitting or standing.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· Normal office environment.

· May be subjected to fast-paced decision making, crisis situations.
